Delta State Government has fulfilled its promise of empowering beneficiaries of the Women Empowerment Skills Acquisition Programme (WESAP) with the sum of N60,000 (sixty thousand naira) each for renting shop.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs Community and Social Development, Mrs Flora Alatan, made this known while presenting the beneficiaries with their monies at her office in Asaba.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas pointed out cash was paid to avoid losses incurred through bank charges.
Alatan, however, assured beneficiaries who had not yet received their complete starter packs that they had not been forgotten and that they would receive them as soon as the complete items were made available.
She extolled Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for keeping to his promise of making available the shop rent monies and advised the beneficiaries not to waste the talent and opportunities given them by government.
Miss Awele Ijeh and Miss Judith Ikediashi both WESAP beneficiaries, while speaking to newsmen expressed joy, saying that they were opportune and praised Government for keeping to its promise, assuring that they would use the monies given to them for the set purpose.
