Jigawa govt, emires assure more support to Hepatitis Zero Team

The Jigawa state government and the leadership of five emirates in the state assured more support to the Hepatitis Zero Team aims at improving maternal and newborn/child health.
The assurance was made when the Team under the leadership of commissioner for hepatitis Zero in the north west region Hajiya Hauwa Abbas paid a courtesy visit to ministry of health and five emirates in the state.
While speaking during the visit, the Emir of Ringim HRH Alhaji Dr Sayyadi Abubakar Muhammad appreciated the effort and gave his blessings and support to the team.
The Emir requested another visit to ensure the District and Village Heads would be present to be educated and contribute to curbing out hepatitis in Ringim.
He then Emir encouraged the team to work diligently and be truthful in all they do to improve the lives of children in the state.
The visit concluded with a presentation to the hospital with 100 pieces of birthing kits for supported by Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative.
Also speaking during the visit to the State’s Ministry of Health, the Permanent Secretary, Dr Salisu Muazu , thanks the Commission for the visit adding that, at the moment, there’s no project being implemented in the state that covers Hepatitis.
The permanent secretary, added that the Hepatitis Zero project came at the right time, because there was a vacuum which is now taken over the Hepatitis Zero project. He further stated that Jigawa State Ministry of Health welcomes all partners; the state is one the most conducive area for programs implementation by partners because the state government is concerned with the system.
He then pledged to extend that hand of friendship, fellowship to Hepatitis Zero Project and called on the Hepatitis Zero to present all relevant documents before the Ministry so they can sign a Memorandum of understanding agreement to ensure that the project get covered under the law & appropriate guidelines with regards to Hepatitis Zero activities in the state.
Dr Salisu Mu’azu restated that the State does not have a program for Adult vaccination for hepatitis B; it is capital intensive and these are the areas the State Ministry would look out and partner with the Commission. The Ministry can also partner with the Commission in supporting screening.
