Date:

From David Hassan, Gombe

At least no fewer than 14,040 candidates were said to have sat for the 2014 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination in Gombe state.

Our correspondent, who monitored the examination at Gombe state university at the weekend, reports that JAMB officials said candidates at the examination centre were unable to thumb print their E- slip, but added that officials used exception mode on Biometric Verification Machine (BVM) in order to ascertain the problem.

Speaking to our correspondent at the examination centre, a JAMB supervisor with the Faculty of Sciences, Gombe State University, Mr. Wasa Alibe, commended the candidates for their effort of being punctual at the examination centre even as he said officials at the centre had successfully captured the data of candidates.

He appealed to he candidates to remain focused, in order to shun examination malpractice, adding that candidates should not relent in following the instruction on their E-slip as, according to him, that will only be the solution for their success.

According to him, if anyone is found wanting, he would be arrested and handed over to the security operatives for further action, saying JAMB will not fold its hands and allow candidates to cheat during examination.

He called on them to be ambassadors of change to the society, which according to him will bring a lasting solution in the education sector.
