The JAGABA/DAUDA Students’ Mandate 2027, Zamfara State chapter, has launched its Campus Ambassadors initiative to mobilise students across tertiary institutions ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group said the initiative would focus on student engagement, campus discussions and voter education, while drawing attention to education programmes and interventions by the Federal Government and Zamfara State Government.
Speaking at the launch, the convener, Comrade Bilyaminu Badarawa, said the initiative would provide a platform to engage students on developments in the education sector.
Badarawa said the group’s campaign would highlight what it described as tangible and verifiable achievements affecting students and residents of Zamfara.
He said, “We are here to launch a movement that will engage students with the developments taking place in the education sector.
“Our Campus Ambassadors will take this message to campuses across Zamfara, engage their fellow students and ensure that young people are properly informed about the programmes and interventions affecting their education and future.”
The group cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund student-loan scheme as one of the major education initiatives of the Tinubu administration.
NELFUND said in August 2026 that it had disbursed more than N322bn through over 1.6 million student-loan applications.
The group also highlighted investments in technical and vocational education, research, infrastructure and institutional support, as well as measures to address disruptions in tertiary education.
Badarawa said the administration had reached an agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, while also citing TETFund infrastructure projects and research grants as areas of intervention.
He further listed support for the Federal University Gusau and Federal University of Health Sciences, Tsafe, as well as the Universal Basic Education Commission’s intervention programmes in Zamfara.
On the state government’s record, the group cited Governor Dauda Lawal’s declaration of a state of emergency in education in November 2023.
The state government had subsequently announced the construction and renovation of more than 400 schools, provision of over 12,000 two-seater desks and plans to recruit 2,000 teachers.
In July 2026, Lawal also signed Executive Orders covering education financing, school protection, quality assurance, school health, security, unified examinations, inclusive education, STEM, technical and vocational education and digital education.
The group further listed the payment of outstanding WAEC and NECO debts, release of previously withheld examination results, distribution of teaching and learning materials, school feeding initiatives and support for students whose university certificates had allegedly been withheld.
It also cited reforms in state-owned tertiary institutions, scholarship initiatives and plans for wider education-sector reforms.
Badarawa said the newly inaugurated Campus Ambassadors would be responsible for grassroots mobilisation, voter education and engaging students on education-related programmes at both federal and state levels.
He said, “We cannot afford to return to a past where examination results were withheld, teachers were unpaid and classrooms collapsed.
“The JAGABA/DAUDA Students’ Mandate 2027 is committed to ensuring that the voices of Zamfara students are heard and their interests protected.”
He added, “The future of Zamfara depends significantly on the quality of education available to its young people.
“Our responsibility as students and young citizens is to understand what is being done, engage constructively and make our voices heard.”
The event ended with the group urging students across the state to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2027 elections.
