A former deputy governor of Edo State, Mr. Pius Odubu, said the State Government did not serve him notice before his house was demolished on Tuesday, amidst condemnation.
But he admitted that his attention was drawn to a Newspaper publication in January this year that the Certificate of occupancy (C of O) of the property located at Dennis Osadebe Avenue, Government Reservation Area in Benin City, had been revoked by the State Government.
Odubu disclosed this newsmen while reacting to the demolition of his property on Tuesday by agents of the Government who also destroyed two other buildings belonging to Mr Mike Etemuagbon and Prof. Julius Ihonvbere on Edo Osagie Street, GRA, Benin City.
Etemuagbon and Ihonvbere, a member of House of Representatives are both ally of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the immediate past Governor of the State.
According to Odubu, “The information came to me this afternoon, March 23, that my property situated at Dennis Osadebe avenue have been brought down by agents of the government on the directive of the governor.
“Before now, my attention was brought to a publication in the Observer newspaper in January that the C of O of my property have been revoked without prior notice given to me.
“I went to court in the matter and i am surprised that after they have been served, the government still went ahead to bring down my house with a bulldozer.
