FG plans emergency medical services across 774 LGA’s

The Federal Government has disclosed plans to set up emergency medical services across the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire assured that the policy would bring healthcare delivery closer to the people at the grassroots level, however did not mention when its implementation will begin.
He said this in Benin City at a sensitization programme to mark World Health Organization (WHO) Day 2021 with the theme: “Building A fairer, healthier World for everyone”.
Ehanire said the measure would reduce the healthcare burden on tertiary and secondary facilities being experienced in most parts of Nigeria.
The Minister stated that ambulances and medical personnel would be provided to meet the needs of Nigerians who have health challenges.
He also revealed that the annual WHO Day Ceremony will henceforth be rotational across the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital territory (FCT).
Earlier, in a remark, Governor, Godwin Obaseki said his administration is working hard to provide quality for Edo people.
Obaseki who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of health, Dr. Irowa Osamwonyi, said the various Primary Healthcare (PHC) Centres in the State have witnessed a turnaround under Governor Obaseki’s watch.
On his part, the Minister for Health (State) State Health, Dr . Olurunnimbe Mamora who joined the interactive session virtually, assured that the Government has already taken steps to resolve striking Doctors unpasse.
Representative of WHO also delivered a goodwill message at the event which was held in compliance with Nigeria Centre for Disease Centre (NCDC) regulations and Covid-19 protocol.
