Alleged fraud: APC chairmanship aspirant for AMAC faces police scrutiny

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant in Thursday’s primary election, Murtala Usman has been accused of fraudulently collecting salaries from three different agencies of government contrary to civil service rules.

The accusation made by one Mr Irabo Godwin Amiolemen is contained in a letter of complaint addressed to the FCT Commissioner of Police in Abuja by counsel to the complainant dated April 16, 2021.

The petition calls for urgent action by the police to prevent breakdown of law and order and ensure a hitch-free primary election for AMAC chairmanship in which the accused person is an aspirant.

The petition which was stamped received by the office of the FCT commissioner of police on April 19, 2021 said that the petitioner is in possession of evidence suggesting that Murtala Usman allegedly secured appointment in three Federal Government Agencies and collected salaries since 2013.

The agencies, according to the petition include Federal Capital Secondary Education Board, National Poverty Eradication Programme, and the Supervisory Council of AMAC.

Attached to the petition to the police were documents in support of the allegation of triple collection of salaries in violation of civil service regulation.

In one instance in December, 2016, according to the petition, the employee pay slip showed that Usman Murtala collected the total net earnings of 68, 503.74 naira from National Poverty Eradication Programme in the FCT with an IPPIS number 204738, while in the same month, he at the same time collected the net pay of N194, 403.66 from the AMAC.

The trend has been the same across the three offices since 2013, the petition said, and urged the police to act promptly to ensure justice is served.
