Two more weapons belonging to Nigerian Army that were taken away from the 12 slain soldiers in Bonta, Konshisha local government of Benue have been recovered.
This was disclosed in a communique issued at the end of a stakeholders meeting held yesterday at Government House, Makurdi, signed by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor.
The meeting condemned in strong terms any form of attack on security agencies and resolved that all those involved in the killing of the soldiers should be arrested and prosecuted
The meeting urged Traditional Rulers and other stakeholders to ensure that the remaining weapon taken from the murdered soldiers is returned.
They commended the efforts made by His Excellency Governor Samuel Ortom to prevent the escalation of the crisis following the killing of soldiers in Konshisha Local Government and the efforts he has made to ensure peace and security in the State.
The stakeholders also advised on sustained support to the Government of Benue State and the Security Agencies.
The meeting recommended increased surveillance in Benue communities while Traditional rulers and other stakeholders should support security agencies through intelligence gathering
The meeting mandated the Governor to lead a delegation of Benue State to visit the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces to condole him for what has happened and thank him for his patience and understanding.
