The Council of Imams and Ulama, Kaduna State chapter has urged the Management of Kaduna State University (KASU) to shelf the intention of possible tuition fee increment at this critical time when the people of the state are faced with various degrees of economic hardship.
The council stated this is in a statement signed by its Chairman, Shaykh Ibrahim Nakaka.
The statement stated that the Council find it difficult to comprehend any logic behind the intended increment in the present circumstances, bearing in mind that many parents in Kaduna State are yet to recover from the devastating effect of lockdown experienced in the state due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The Council cautioned both the University management and Kaduna State Government to be careful in taking any decision that will endanger the future of the teeming youth in the state, saying any increment of school fees at this crucial time will only lead to mass school dropout.
