Mark, Tambuwal, Ihedioha condemn Nyanya attack

Senate President, David Mark has condemned the Nyanya -Abuja Monday morning bombing that left hundreds of people dead and advised the perpetrators to rethink, saying it is a needless war.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, Mark said: “It is hard to believe that this is happening to us. No matter the anger or grievances in any body’s mind. This war on defenceless citizens is uncalled for”.

Mark who was already at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja to Ibadan, Oyo state capital to attend the birthday of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 , on his 100 years and to receive a Chieftaincy title from the revered monarch, on hearing the bomb blast, made a u – turn in honor of the victims.

He sympathized with the victims and reminded Nigerians of the need to be their brothers’ keeper at all times.

He called on security operatives to collaborate with each other, even as he counseled them to be more proactive in order to end the menace.

Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has condemned the Monday morning bomb blast which killed dozens of commuters and other innocent Nigerians in Abuja.

In a statement issued in Calabar by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam, Tambuwal described the attack as cowardly and barbaric. He said all Nigerians must join hands to bring an end to the spate of wanton killings in the country.

According to him, considering the pattern of previous attacks in the country, security agencies should beef up surveillance around motor parks and related areas all over the federation.

The Speaker further urged security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the violent act are brought to justice, adding that the gains recorded by the security agencies in their battle against

terror should be consolidated in order to protect the citizens at all times.

While condoling with the families of those who lost loved ones in the blast, Tambuwal prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha also condemned the blast and described as the mindless, heinous and unwarranted wickedness against innocent lives that have been cut short in another unexplainable orgy of bloodletting.

He urged security agencies to go the extra mile to bring those behind the dastardly act to book while offering deep condolences to the families that have lost loved ones and those injured in the unfortunate incident.

According to him, Nigerians of goodwill join those affected in this national moment of grief as they are not alone in this trying time of violence and insurgency plaguing the country.

He called for prayers for Nigeria and urged members of the public to be extra vigilant and offer necessary cooperation to security agents as they strive to tackle insecurity in the land.

On his part, member representing Tsafe Gusau federal constituency of Zamfara state, Rep Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, also condemned the blast, saying the people behind the blast do not have any reason to kill innocent people who set out for their daily activities.

Rep Gusau said the bombing, which leave many casualties, was a very sad and callous act that underscored the need for the government to find whatever ways of tackling the insecurity in the country.

The lawmaker who said this yesterday at the National Assembly in Abuja, said with the level of insecurity in the country, “I think a lot of money needs to be put into security. No amount of money would be too much for security issues. It is high time that government give it the attention is requires”.
