Ortom pledges to offset over 21 month salary arrears

Benue State Governor has admitted owing over 21 months salaries for state civil servants, local government staff as well as teachers.
Governor Samuel Ortom who made the admission while addressing Journalists during the Democracy Day celebration.
He added that his administration inherited over 17 billion in pensions, gratuities and salaries, maintaining that the wage bill for State and the local governments is two(2) billion naira each.
According to him, the government have since 2018 been consistent in payment of salary despite the fact that allocation from the federation is grossly inadequate to meet all obligations, noting that the internally generated revenue of 500 million monthly is insufficient to augment.
