NIHOTOUR to host first Gastronomy day in Nigeria

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), said it will host the first United Nations Global Observance of Sustainable Gastronomy Day in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by Director, Media & Public Relations, Ahmed Sule.
He said Nigeria is hosting the event in collaboration with the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China and the Centre for Arts and Culture, in Abuja.
Sule said the commemoration will take place Friday June ,18 2021, with the theme: “Nations, Foods, Cultures and Partnerships for Sustainable Development”.
He said the concept of Sustainable Gastronomy seeks to promote cultural cuisines and sustainable diets.
According to him,the event will have varieties of programms, such as the opening ceremony, exhibition of varieties of Nigerian delicacies and foreign cuisines that will last for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, Gastronomy is a cultural expression of nations through their food choices, sources of ingredients and types of cuisines which thrives in culturally rich destinations.
