Fire destroys 350 beds, mattresses at Yola hospital

The central store and other wards of the Yola Specialist Hospital was yesterday gutted by inferno, destroying hospital equipment worth millions of naira.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Dauda Wadinga disclosed the development in Yola yesterday while conducting the Deputy Governor, Chief Crowther Seth round the affected parts of the hospital.
He said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
Wadinga explained that the outbreak started from the central stores extending to other parts of the hospital, destroying over three hundred and fifty (350)beds including mattresses.
Commenting on the development, Adamawa Deputy Governor, Chief Seth Crowther, described the incident as devastating considering the services the facility is rendering to teeming populace in the state.
Seth while sympathising with the management of the hospital stated that his visit was to access the magnitude of the damage with a view to seeing how government could support the hospital.
The Deputy Governor promised to intimate his boss,Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on the sad development.
