We’ll boost private sector through pilgrimage activities- NCPC

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara has pledged to ensure the growth of the private sector of the Nigerian economy through pilgrimage activities.

He made the pledge during the bid opening for Air Carriers and Ground Handlers for the 2014 Christian Pilgrimage at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Mr. Opara stated that in the past, the commission used to go the countries of those commercially participating in the exercise to do the biding with them. “This is the first time in the history of the Commission to open the Ground handlers’ bid here in Nigeria. This will definitely help to boost the economy as it will ensure an addition of the local content in the entire pilgrimage process.” He stated.

Mr. Opara added that the commission would ensure due process in the bidding procedure, stressing that their ware no preferred bidders. “We do not have a special preference for any one”.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the NCPC Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh assured the bidders that the commission would continue to uphold truth, transparency and fairness;, adding that those who meet the requirements of the Public Procurement Act (PPA) will be selected to participate in the 2014 Christian pilgrimage exercise.

The NCPC helms man stated that the list of successful air carriers and ground handlers would be made public after thorough assessment by members of the technical evaluation committee.
