Businessman, 64, docked over alleged impersonation, fraud

A 64-year-old businessman, Kamiru Adeboshin, was yesterday docked at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos, over alleged fraud and impersonation.

Adeboshin of No. 16, Arikose Road, Igando-Egan Area of Lagos, is charged with conspiracy, impersonation and making documents without authority.

He, however, denied the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Olakanmi Omisope, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 16 in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Omisope said the accused, alongside others at large, falsely presented himself as Mr. Emmanuel Eleoramo at the Spanish Embassy.

He alleged that the accused, with intent to defraud, also procured a Nigerian passport with number A04004135 under the fraudulent name.

Omisope said the accused knew the representations he made were false and his intention was to pass the documents as genuine to the Spanish Embassy.

He said the offences contravened Sections 368, 378(1) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.

Section 378(1) prescribes three years imprisonment for anyone guilty of impersonation.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A. Botoku, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till May 13, for trial. (NAN)
