Didier Drogba “worried” over Salah’s records in EPL

Date:

Former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has admitted he is worried that ex-Blues player Mohamed Salah is going to break his current goalscoring records.

Speaking to Mehwar TV, Drogba said: “If he continues, he’s going to destroy all my records – I want to cry!’

The pair were teammates during the 2014/15 season at Stamford Bridge, during Drogba’s second period at the club.

Even though they never got to play together for long, the Ivorian remembers their time together at Cobham.

“When you look at the squad we had at the time, it was not easy to play,” said Drogba. “But what really got me attached to Mo is that he’s really nice, he’s really polite.

“Even when he was not playing, he was sad not to contribute, but he was always in good spirits,”

Salah left and joined AS Roma before finding his way back into the Premier League with Liverpool.

He has since become one of the most feared forward in world football, breaking Premier League records along the way.

He is currently the highest-scoring African player in the league’s history, beating Drogba’s record that stood at 104 goals.

The Egyptian is also closing in on Drogba’s goal-scoring record in the Champions League.

Drogba is the highest-scoring African in the competition, with 36 goals with Salah only five goals away from matching the feat.
