The Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Walid Jibrin has advised the new Chairman of the party, Dr Iyorchia Ayu to avoid being distracted by the ambition of Individual members.

Rather, Jubrin admonished Ayu to keep the party as formidable as possible by concentrating on his duties and not more on who shall be the President, Vice President and Senate President among others.

Senator Jibrin spoke yesterday during a special meeting of Board of Trustees’ members with the newly elected members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party in Abuja.

He specifically cautioned the National Chairman of the PDP to avoid taking side with any Individual with self ambition and try to reduce the state of god fatherism.

The BoT Chairman said, “May I urge the National Chairman therefore to use his wealth of experience to make the party great as it remains the largest party in Africa.

“You must try to reconcile Individuals, States, and National issues.

“Do not be distracted by the ambition of Individual members but keep the party as formidable as possible by concentrating on your duties and not more on who shall be the President, Vice President, Senate President etc.

“Do not take side any Individual with self ambition and try to reduce the state of god fatherism.

“Ayu’s election has undergone genuine processes starting from this unit, Ward, local government council, State, North Central Zone, Northern Region, and of course at NEC and National Convention”, he pointed out.

Speaking at the special meeting, Dr Ayu promised that as the Chairman of the party, he would be free, fair, and make the interest of the party to be paramount and will not override a broader interest.

In the words of Dr Ayu, “The moment you begin to take decisions that isolate these organs, it means the party will be working at cross purposes with each other.

“It is very important to me and my colleagues in the National working committee that we constantly and regularly consult with all members of the BoT.

“If we do that, the party will move smoothly. And if the party moves smoothly, it means we’ll be stronger,  then if we are stronger, It means we will win more elections because the objective of a political party is win elections, not just to create unnecessary intrigue within the party. Intrigues.

“Most of the intrigues arise because of personal interest. It is only when we put the interests of the party as paramount that we’ll be able to take this party to victory.”
