Makurdi based Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL side Lobi Stars secured their first win as they defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club 2-1.
Lobi had drawn two (2) games at home to Rivers United and away to Kano Pillars in Kaduna.
The visitors started the game on a brilliant note out playng the home team whose defence line marshaled by former Super Eagles defender Solomon Kwambe was shaky.
Captain of 3SC Akilu Mohammed tormented Lobi with his pace and strength as the defenders struggled hard to keep him as bay. His distant shot hit the upright to send a strong warning to the home team.
Mohammed consistent incursion paid off in the 40th minute when he lashed out a low shot inside the 18 yard box that beat Lobi keeper Emeka Onyia.
Lobi came back in the second half stronger and cordinated. Left footed Adams Olamilekan who was outstandingly brilliant throughout the game equalized for the Eddy Dombraye tutored side when in the 63rd minute, he jabbed into the net from a cross by Wassa Gabriel.
Then in the 72nd minute, man of the match Adams went solo and his low cross was converted by Ifeanyi Ogba for the winning goal.
Despite the win, Coach Eddy Dombraye lampooned his lads for their lack luster performance.
“Why are we always coming back stronger in the second half. We can start off well. We have talked about this with the technical crew but we will work on this”, he promised.
While 3SC coach Edith Agoye blamed his boys for not taking their chances to lay off the game.
