Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has returned to training with Leicester City after being sidelined for three weeks with hamstring injury.

The Nigerian international picked up the injury while on international assignment with the Super Eagles. He was decamped back to Leicester City for further assessment and later featured for the Foxes in their 4-0 win against Nottingham Forest on October 4.

“Wilf’s back on the training pitches as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury,” Leicester City confirmed on Wednesday

Ndidi’s return to training could be a boost for the Foxes who face champions, Manchester City in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off match.

The Nigerian, who had had to withdraw from international duty, only lasted until half-time in Monday night’s 4-0 success, with Boubakary Soumare taking his place for the second period

Brandan Rodgers, Leicester City manager, said then that Ndidi was okay.

Rodgers explained that Ndidi sustained a hamstring injury in the game and will be sidelined for a while.

The defensive midfielder is not expected to be available for the Foxes trip to the Vitality Stadium this weekend.

“Wilfred Ndidi will probably be out for a little bit.

“He came back from international duty with a hamstring strain. He recovered well but he felt it at half-time in the game and he was a little sore, so he might miss a few weeks.

“We think he’ll be okay. He came out of the international break with that, so we just needed to protect him.”

Leicester City are hopeful Wilfred Ndidi will be able to feature against the champions as they continue to fight for more points to ease their relegation worries.

After 12 matches, Leicester are 17th on the log with 11 points after winning just two and drawing five matches.
