An interest group, Progressive Opinion Leaders Group has solicited Peoples Media, (publishers of Peoples Daily and Peoples Daily Weekend Newspapers titles) support towards actualizing Vice President Yomi Osinbajo presidency in 2023.
The group in a courtesy visit to Peoples Media office in Abuja Thursday sues for media synergy towards selling the candidature of Prof. Yomi Osinbajo for 2023 presidential contest.
Speaking during the visit, leader of the group, Shettima Umar Abba Gana who said they were convinced by the Vice Presidents’ sound academic background, humility, honesty and integrity to embark on the project.
He noted they were in Peoples Media to sell his candidature given the fact of the role media plays in the society which were not limited to informing, educating the citizens on issues that will advance development and better living conditions.
His words, “We are here to sell the candidature of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for 2023 presidency. He has all the qualities required to govern. He has integrity with humble and honest disposition to issues. His sound academic background speaks volume of his capacity to manage the affairs of the nation
“We came here for interaction and cross fertilization of ideas on how to move our nation forward. We must think on how to engage our teeming population job wise.
“Upon the fact that present administration is doing its best, we need somebody that will carry on the good work and improve on the gains made so far.
“Although, Prof. Osinbajo has not said he will contest, but we believe he will yield with more pressure from people of goodwill who meant well for the nation.
Responding, Chief Operating Officer of Peoples Daily (COO), Dr Hammeed Bello who thanked the group for the visit assured that Peoples Daily being a peoples’ centered medium will always welcome any proactive group like theirs with focus on advancing discussion and dialogue on reposition our society for better.
Bello who praised the gentle disposition of the Vice President when he encountered him, assured that Peoples Media is not partisan but will be open for conversation and support any programme of action that will be beneficial to the nation.
While giving the closing remarks, former Senator repenting Benue North East, Senator Joseph Akaakerger thanked Peoples Daily for the warm reception they received and urged that we strive to have Nigeria of dream based on the fact that leadership is a collective project.
