Nigeria Labor Congress, Benue State chapter has expressed dissatisfaction over continued inability of government to settle accumulated salary arrears of civil servants, pensioners and gratuities of retired workers.
The State Chairman, Comrade Godwin stated this while speaking with newsmen after a meeting between the union and government at the weekend.
Comrade Anya regretted that the arrears of workers salaries, pension and gratuities have accumulated since 2017 without appreciable efforts made by government to offset them.
He said during the meeting which was held behind closed doors for several hours, Governor Samuel Ortom pleaded for more time to enable source funds to clear the issues.
“We spoke on the issue and the governor told us a lot of challenges he has been facing. He said it is as a result of non availability of funds. He said he had attempted severally to borrow money but he was frustrated along the line based on the issues he has with the Federal government”.
