We’re collaborating with BEDC to improve power in Delta – Ukodhiko

Delta State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Jonathan Ukodhiko has said that the state government was working with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to improve power supply to the people of the state. 

Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Asaba, Ukodhiko said the Okowa administration had already approved projects for the upgrade and reinforcement of electricity supply to some communities. 

According to him, we are already working in collaboration with the BEDC. I have called them for a meeting, for them to let us know how they are going to improve the light situation in Delta State. 

“This will enable us look into our projects and see how we can support what they are doing in other for us to collaborate and make life meaningful for our people. 

“Deltans should continue to pray for this government, Deltans should continue to expect improvement in electricity. 

“As we speak now, the government has already approved lots of projects concerning the upgrade and reinforcement of electricity to some communities. 

“For instance, there are so many communities that for the past five years they have been cut off due to either faulty transformers or none payment of electricity bill or one problem or the other. 

“What we have succeeded in doing, we have already gone around some of these communities and have seen the problem they are having and have put some memos together for government approval. 

“Some of them just need little money to provide a meaningful life for them. The governor has graciously approved some of these memos and very soon we are going to go into operation and award the contracts for these projects to take off. 

“At last week’s EXCO a lot of massive projects were approved across the state, the same goes for the energy sector. 

“As a private sector player, I am committed to helping the government spend less to achieve a lot of results and to reduce the cost of governance.”
