Police arrest Kaduna traffic marshal for beating driver to death

Police have arrested an official of Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) who allegedly beat a motorist to death along the Ali Akilu Road, in the Ungwan Sarki  ward  of Kaduna  North Local Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Mohammad Jalige, disclosed this in a  statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.

The statement stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mudassiru Abdullahi, ordered for the immediate arrest of the  Marshall

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Friday at about 4pm and led to heavy gridlock around the Ungwan Sarki area of the state.

It was gathered that the driver was allegedly killed following an altercation with the traffic official.

A witness said the driver died as a result of head injury, adding that the deceased was hit with a stick during the argument.

ASP Jalige while confirming the incident, said the commissioner of police ordered the arrest of the traffic official behind the incident.
