From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed the Head of Civil Service, Usman Bala to oversee the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor with immediate effect.
On Thursday, the Chief of Staff, Ali Haruna Makoda, announced his resignation and defection to the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), leaving the office vacant.
However, a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba yesterday, said the governor had directed Bala to oversee the office.
Garba, in the statement, indicated that the supervision would be pending the appointment of a substantive Chief of Staff.
The governor, the statement added, expressed the hope for effective supervision and coordination by the Head of Service, having served in the office before.
Bala was appointed Principal Private Secretary to governor Ganduje on May 29 2015 but lived for only one year in the office.
