The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Kano state, Engr. Bashir Ishaq Bashir, has boasted that the presidential candidate of the opposition party, Peter Obi will take Nigerians by surprise when he win the 2023 election.
Engr. Bashir states this during the 2023 Dialogue Series, organized by Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday.
Engr. Bashir also said that like Obi, he would also pull surprise when he win the gubernatorial election in Kano state.
According to him, people are now more interested in quality of candidate, not political party, adding that All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should stop dreaming of winning election as people are tired of their failed tenures.
He said Obi and him have what it takes to win the elections, noting that his party, the Labour Party has best agenda for Nigerians.
He also stated that his party has concluded plans to send Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Ambassador Aminu Wali to political retirement in 2023.
The three politicians are leaders of their respective parties and have strong grip on Kano politics.
Engr. Bashir also accused the political leaders of not having the interest of the people at heart.
According to him, his campaign team are made up professionals who have the blueprints to bring back the lost glory of Kano as the commercial nerve of the North.
“In the last 20 years, we leaders who came into power unprepared. Our leaders do not prioritise the priorities of the people. We will make sure that Kano is economically viable.,” he stated.
He further stated that, “in every society, and in times of great difficulties and challenges, there rises a group of committed and like-minded individuals who collective resolve and tenacity surpasses the sum total of the monumental economic, social and moral decay of their society.
“These are men and women with a vision of what their society should and shouldn’t be. People of strong moral authority whose commitment to service to the people is never in doubt. Men and women who sacrifice their personal comforts for the sake of their people.”
