Foundation tasks FG on empowerments for women entrepreneurs

A non-governmental organization,Foundation for Advancement for Women and Children’s Right. ( FAWCR) has urged the Federal Governments to roll out policies that will particularly empower women in their business activities.

The orgainsation said Federal republic of Nigeria have shown willingness to strengthen the participation of all the communities to achieve gender balance and representation at all levels of decision making, they have created numerous plans, schemes organization all designed to empower women and women in business particularly.

Speaking at the conference with the theme “Better Life for Women Trader”, over the weekend, Founder/Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Mrs, Ahiaba Naomie explained that it is through this women empowerment can become strong enough to play key role at the field of national development.

She said :”Women should be empowered by creating an environment where they can make decisions for their own personal being and the society at large. 

“Women traders and business women generally are very fertile ground to invest as a nation, because women are resilient, hardworking and extremely passionate.

“Women are in control of most of the non-monetary economy like subsistence farming, domestic labor etc. and also in the monetary economy (business,employment etc.) women work both inside and outside the home.

She said “There should be more skills acquisition for us ,women so that we can explore, we should be more informed and also innovate in different industry where women can tap into, organize federal government training and orientation for women on business,she said .

On her part,the Head of Gender, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural Development,Mrs. Ifeoma Anyanwu,said “Women voice are not heard and the concerns of women are not been addressed and this is an issue of having a strategy of working with men for a gender parity”.
