Digital transformation indispensable to sustainable development – BUK VC

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas has identified corporate management as crucial in achieving sustainable development.

The VC made the assertion, while declaring open the 3rd international conference & Doctoral colloquium,held at Bayero University Kano.

Professor Sagir, who was represented by provost college of natural and pharmaceutical sciences, Professor Tijjani Hassan Darma, stressed that,the present era of 4th industrial revolution brought about digital transformation through “digitalization of processes, tasks and activities, leading to faster processing , enhancing easy access to data and information sharing.

He pointed out that, the  conference has generated remarkable interest, and exceptionally high reception from both academics and practitioners, not only from management sciences and digital technology, but from different works of life.

“The faculty of management sciences, BUK has been able to sustain the bi-annual conference by organizing the 3rd despite many issues arising from the long closure of public universities”

In his welcome address, the dean faculty of management sciences, BUK Professor Kabir Tahir Hamid explained that, the conference would also go a long way  strategically in addressing  issues pertaining to transformation of public and corporate management in the digital age.

It would also be important to chart a course on how to use emerging perspectives and paradigms to improve performance, efficiency,effectiveness, organizational sustainability and all inclusive sustainable growth and development.

He highlighted that, the theme of  the  conference has stirred high interest among both academics and practitioners to profer lasting solutions to problems.

 “The  faculty  had recieved three hundred submission’s for technical paper sessions, and Doctoral colloquium from within and outside the country”

In his keynote address,the executive secretary, financial reporting council of Nigeria, Ambassador Shu’aibu Adamu Ahmed noted that the 4th revolution is about connected machines, technological innovations and artificial intelligence.

He charged participants to conduct more research on digitalization sustainability as well as hoe to use digital technology to solve problems bedevilling the country.

The conference themed: Sustainable transformation of public and corporate management in the digital Age , perspectives,challenges and prospects: was marked by presentations including a virtual lead paper presentation   by the secretary general, international institute of islamic thought (IIIT), USA, Professor Omar Hassan Kasule and  attended by representatives from ANAN,ICAN,  CIBN,NDIC and other  relevant stakeholders.
