The management of the University of Abuja has launched a Diploma programe in Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the institution.

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, said his administration would support the programme in all ramifications.

Na’Allah who spoke during the University of Abuja maiden national conference on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, saying the management of the University would deem it necessary to award a Degree programme in Complementary and Alternative medicine in the nearby future.

Also speaking, the Chancellor of the University, Alhaji Rilwan Suleiman Adamu who is the Emir of Bauchi State said the establishment of a Diploma programe in Complementary and Alternative Medicine would revolutionize the health system in Nigeria.

The Emir who was represented at the occasion said: “This is one area that our scientists ought to have delved into long ago, the significant advancement made by China and India in the use of Complementary and Alternative medicine is an established phenomenon across the globe.

On his part, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences University of Abuja, Prof. Mustapha Jamda, said the College of Health Sciences would partner with the Complementary and Alternative medicine in the University for the sake of academic excellence of the students.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Institute of Natural Medicine, University of Abuja, Dr Ben Amodu unveiled the substances of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the occasion.
