Police in Yobe State are set to provide adequate security to the 1,707 polling units in the state during the 2023 general elections.
Spokesman for the State’s Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said in a statement that the Command had held astrategic meeting with all Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments of Tactical Commands to discuss all issues capable of causing security breaches around the polling units.
“The Command continues to assess and evaluate situations in the state toward ensuring hitch-free 2023 General Elections,” DSP Abdulkarim said in the statement.
He said at the strategic meeting, the officers reviewed strategies and outlined the risk analysis of each Local Government Area while overviewing the number of polling Units and collation Centres across the State.
The aim, the Police spokesman said, was to establish concrete solid fortifications around every polling unit as well as the collation centres.
