The Labour Party Governorship candidate, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, has urged the All Progressive –led government in Ekiti state not to interfere in the trial of those alleged to have murdered Mr Foluso Ogundare, a member of his party in cold blood.

Ogundare, a close ally of Bamidele was allegedly killed by suspected members of APC in Emure Ekiti on November 3, 2013 during a ward meeting.

A serving member of House of Assembly and member of APC, Hon Kehinde Boluwade and six others are presently being tried at the Ekiti State High Court over their alleged involvement in the daylight killing.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti recently by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, Bamidele condemned Governor Fayemi and members of his party for not showing remorse over Ogundare’s death during his campaign in Emure Ekiti recently.

Bamidele alleged that rather than show remorse over the heinous crime committed against humanity by his party members, the governor had stormed the town in commando-like style with hordes of combined security forces and started bragging that they will capture the town in the June 21 election.

He described the action as another betrayal of trust and act of intimidation against those he said had not recovered from the pains inflicted on them by Ogundare’s death.

The LP Chieftain disclosed that the killing of Ogundare by these APC members was already in the public glare , saying no amount of interference by Fayemi-led government will spare the accused persons from judicial axe.

“We are reliably informed about the subterranean efforts being made by some powerful people to sweep the trial of Boluwade and his cohorts under the carpet, but we are going to resist this. We are also alerting the people of the State about this devilish act.

“The kind of bravery they displayed in Emure Ekiti on Monday during Fayemi’s campaign in the town by a party that ought to apologise publicly to Emure people, gave a vivid and clear picture that the APC is out to suppress the case.

Bamidele also clarified that no registered members of LP defected to APC during the rally in Emure, saying those rumoured to have decamped were members of APC masquerading as his supporters.
