PDP group launches socio-political movement in Kwara

A group, under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara State chapter, has lunched Orange Revolution Movement (ORM) for the political progress among the people of the state.

While lunching the movement at Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun local government area of the state, a chieftain of PDP in the state, Rev Bunmi Olusona said the lunching marks another milestone in the socio-political struggle of the state.

Olusona said “for too long, docility has defined the political landscape of Kwara and the so-called leaders have cashed in on this to not just mismanage public funds but continue to paint a rosy picture of events. Right in our presence, assets built with public funds are brazenly tagged private concerns.

“University graduates are offered N5,000-monthly jobs. Public works for which billions of naira were borrowed or appropriated are never done. Women and even men purportedly employed are never paid at the end of the month.”

Olusona alleged that government is being run like a cult, with officials – fearing they could be fired – unable to question decisions clearly at variance with public good.

“In Kwara, government is run to promote an individual’s ego; here, governance is run in manners injurious to our people’s inalienable right to seek to attain any height without having to be at the mercy of any political cult.

“Because history has never been kind to laid-back citizens who watched while their community is plundered, we have today decided to launch what we call the Orange Revolution Movement,” he said.

Olusona, a former chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state explained that the Orange Movement will promote conscience ideal of what governance are all about stressing that everyone would have a sense of belonging.

He added that the Movement will advocate for and insist on good governance stressing that it will seek a credible and peaceful change in Kwara through all democratic means.
