Three days after the Jos twin bomb blasts which claimed over 100 lives, a good number of people in the state have been trooping out to various hospitals to search of their missing relatives who have left their homes since the day of the incident.
The search of the missing relatives, which began since Tuesday, has continued till yesterday at different hospitals in the city.
According to Sabo Adam Abubakar, his wife, Maryam Ibrahim was among those missing during the blasts.
When asked at the Plateau Specialist Hospital mortuary how Maryam got missing, he narrated that: “About 2:30p.m., of Tuesday, we went to Zenith bank together and withdrew money.
“Before we parted, I told her that I would be going to Maternity Hospital to her sister, who visited a patient and she then told me that I should come back as she would prepare my food on time, so I should not waste time.
“Not more than five minutes later the bomb blast occurred. I have been round to various hospitals since Tuesday to see if I could even see her corpse but couldn’t; and her cell phone number was not available.
“Our marriage is months old now. She was kind and obedient. I cried on the day of the incident. If she is no longer with us, may Allah show mercy on her”, he added.
Another resident, Aliyu Maigida, who searched for his missing cousin, also said, “My cousin, Iliyasu went out Tuesday, but did not return. We went to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) mortuary, Jan Kuwanu and other hospitals but could not find him; but we will continue searching. We are not given up now.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal, Alex Badeh, yesterday said the recent efforts by the Nigerian military to fighting insurgents and restoring peace in the country, particularly in the North-East,had made insurgents to employ new tactic in their action.
The CDS said this in Jos, when he visited the state to see for himself the destruction of the Tuesday twin bomb blasts.
He said, “The military have been mounting serious pressure on the insurgents and that is the reason they have started moving out of the area.The Nigerian soldiers are highly capable of fighting the insurgents and very soon the issue will be addressed.”
He appealed to Nigerians to patient and supports the military with vital information about the insurgents.
He warned the public against rushing to bomb scenes, as there was the likelihood of another explosion, saying, “People should desist from rushing to the bomb blast scenes, as there is always the possibility of the another explosion’’.
The CDS offered his condolence to the people of the state and Nigeria at large resulted to from the heave twin bomb blasts.
