The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna on Monday dismissed the petition brought by the Labour Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Kachia/Kagarko federal constituency, Augustine Danbaba Umar, seeking to invalidate the election of David Umaru Gurara, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Gurara was declared the winner and returned to office by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the election of February 25, 2023.

Not satisfied with the outcome of the election, Umar filed a petition at the tribunal seeking to invalidate Gurara’s victory.

However, Justice Chudi Nwankwor, while delivering judgement on the matter, dismissed the petition and awarded N500,000 to Gurara.
