Yobe State Commissioner of Home Affairs Information and Culture, Hon Abdullah Bego has restated the ministry’s commitment to partner with Yobe State Emergency Management Agency for information dissemination in the state.
The Commissioner made the disclosure Friday in his office when he received a delegation from Yobe SEMA led by its Executive Secretary, Dr Mohammed Goje.
Bego emphasized that the ministry is fully prepared to support the humanitarian objectives for the betterment of the state.
The Commissioner also expressed his admiration for the exceptional work done by SEMA boss and his team in saving lives, particularly during emergency situations.
While enumerating the purpose of their visit, SEMA Executive Secretary, Dr Mohammed Goje said they were in the ministry on the need to alert the public on the plan by the Cameroonian government to release water from Lagbo Dam which could potentially result in flooding in some reparian communities.
Dr Goje requested for the ministry’s assistance in alerting the public about this possible threat and urging residents of affected areas to relocate to higher ground.
“We will share the names of these communities as we urge the ministry to use its various communication channels to ask the affected areas to move to the high lands.”
