Governments urged to desist from camping IDPs at public schools

The federal and state governments have been urged to desist from camping Internally Displaced Persons,IDPs at public schools as a result of violent conflict or crisis in the country.
A group of civil society organizations under the auspices of Nigeria Education in Emergencies working group’ gave the disposition at the commemoration ceremony of the 2023 International Day to protect education against attack.
They unanimously advocated for a change of narrative, noting that all hands must be on deck towards the survival of education in communities.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the planing Committee, Alhaji Abdulhamid Jika said frequent attacks on educational system is a serious set back to progress and development of a nation.
Jika who doubled as the Director Quality Assurance in the Adamawa state Universal Basic Education Board(ADSUBEB) stated that the supportive roles being played by the Civil Society Organizations and Non Governmental Organizations
to the educational sector can never be over emphasised.
Jika added that the outputs of these partners (CSO’s and NGO’s) through surveys, research, findings and recommendations help in safeguarding the education even in violent conflict or crisis circumstances.
