Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has hailed the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers and Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on his 20th year on the throne and 71st birthday.
In a congratulatory message by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor acknowledges the fatherly role the 13th Etsu Nupe has played not just among the Nupe-speaking people, but to everyone around him.
He says the good leadership style of the Monarch is evident in the high level of patriotism and cooperation among the Nupe-speaking extraction.
Describing the Monarch as a bridge-builder, valiant, selfless and compassionate leader, Governor Umaru Bago says the reign of Etsu Nupe in the last 20 years has brought good tidings to his subjects, the State and the Nation in general.
According to him, “Etsu Nupe is a rare germ to us in the State. His reign has sustained peaceful coexistence and promoted the rich cultural heritage of Nupe Kingdom.
The Governor prays for Allah’s Noor and Rahama on the celebrant and that his reign will continue to be peaceful and successful.
A family source told journalists in Jalingo that chief Bala Kona has been in a London hospital over a complicated heart problem.
The source said, the former state PDP chairman got relieved and returned to Abuja on Wednesday last but his health situation got worsened on Friday, where he was rushed to one of the Abuja hospital where he died at the early hours of Sunday, 27, August 2023.
Also in the statement by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Andeta’rang Irammae, and made available to Journalists in Jalingo, described late Victor as sad and colossal as the government and party that he had assiduously worked for would have continued to benefit from his fountain of wisdom and knowledge.
“The People’s Democratic Party, Taraba state chapter is deeply sadden by news of the death of her former chairman Chief Victor Bala Kona (Garkuwan Bakundi), which occurred early today 27th August 2023 in Abuja.
“Late Chief Victor Bala Kona (Garkuwan Bakundi) was chairman of the Party from March 2012 to August 2020, during which he worked tirelessly for the growth and sustained leadership streak of the party in the state.
“His loss at this time of our political journey is sad and colossal as the government and party that he had assiduously worked for would have continued to benefit from his fountain of wisdom and knowledge.”Speaking in an interview with People’sDaily shortly, the Convener, Rev. Philip Micah Dopah, Chairman, TEKAN/ECWA bloc of CAN in the State said the spate of sickness and disease that have ravaged the health of mankind especially the Elders in the society is worrisome.
Rev. Dopah said the Resource Person who according to him came from Jos, the Plateau State capital is a professional on Health Education.
The Clergy further disclosed that as the Congregation are being taught the way of the Lord and how to inherit the Kingdom of God by the Ministers of the Gospel, they should also be educated on how to live healthy lives as they serve the Lord here on earth.
“So, as a Church Leader, I feel I should bring all of us together, including the opinion leaders from different Communities to seek possible means of curtailing the unexplainable health issues attacking us on daily basis”,
“In the course of the training, our eyes were opened on Foods, Water and Drugs we can take as Adults approaching about 40 – 60 years of age especially those that can boost our immune system”, he said. He added: Deserving students will receive prizes in various categories, knowing that their excellent performance is an inspiration to all”.
The Principal, however, used the graduation ceremony to recognize as well appreciate the outstanding contributions of the past principals of the school.
In her remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Hajiya Fatima Abdulrahman, commended the entire management of the school for organ sing an excellent speech and prize-giving ceremony.
on his part, the Director/Secretary in charge of the Secondary Education Board (SEB), Dr Mohammed Sani Ladan, said his leadership would continue to provide the needed facilities in schools to enhance learning. Ladan, therefore, advised the graduands to be good diplomats of the school anywhere they go.
meanwhile, the graduation ceremony featured the presentation of awards to some distinguished personalities.
