The natives of Abuja, the nation’s capital territory have commended the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike for not wasting time in constituting his cabinet through the swift inauguration of mandate secretaries to oversee the affairs of Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) of the FCT Administration.
In a press briefing on behalf of the natives yesterday, in Abuja, an elder statesman and one of the major stakeholders of the FCT, Elder Danjuma Tanko Dara, inauguration of the new mandate secretaries, less than a month into the present FCT administration has proven Wike’s willingness and resolve to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of FCT.
Dara while congratulating the new mandate secretaries, also charged them to work in the interests of the natives and residents of Abuja, to effectively realise President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of renewed hope in the Territory.
“We want to commend the minister, Nyesom Wike for swiftly moving into action to inaugurate his cabinet through the appointment and inauguration of the mandate secretaries.
“This has proven that he is ready to work and ensure that things are done properly in the FCT.
“My advice for the new mandate secretaries is that they should not disappoint President Bola Tinubu and the FCT minister who found them worthy to serve as mandate secretaries, which is equivalent to commissioners in other states.
“They should be selfless in serving the people and the government and ensure that the right things are done to justify their appointments. So, that at the end of their tenure, they will be proud to say that they served the people very well to the best of their ability,” he said.
Dara also appealed to residents and natives of the FCT not to put the mandate secretary of Area Councils Service Secretariat, Bitrus Garki under pressure through unnecessary demands, but that they should support and pray for him to succeed.
“Bitrus Garki needs our prayers and support because he is a very young and intelligent man. So, instead of looking for ways to put him under pressure by making unnecessary demands, we should think of ways to make him succeed by giving him positive advice and praying for him.
“If he succeeds, that means the entire natives of Abuja have succeeded because he is the only indigene of Abuja amongst the mandate secretaries.
“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate the government for counting him worthy for such an exalted position despite his age,” he stressed.
