Wards heads in Kaduna state have vowed to support the government to curb criminal elements in their midst especially within their domains to effectively curtail social vices and security challenges in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Ward heads in Kaduna state, Alhaji Aliyu Habibu Dubanni, the ward head of Kofar Gayan Low-Cost, Zaria said they welcomed their involvement in security issues of the state.
Alhaji Dubanni said, tackling security and other communal issues has been their day-to-day activities within their communities.
According to him, as the government recognized their importance and engaged them officially, it was a thing of joy.
“And we are more than ready to work hand in hand with the government to identify fish out and expose all criminal elements in our domains”.
The Low-Cost Ward Head said, that to record the success of this laudable initiative by the state Governor, Ward heads need to be adequately incentivized.
Dubanni lamented the poor social well-being of most of the ward leaders who are the closest authority in every given community yet they are not on the payroll of the government despite their significance.
He urged Governor Uba Sani to begin by enumerating the number of the ward heads as well as capturing their bio-data to be able to have more control.
Dubanni noted that the ward heads are the closest authority in every community hence the need to accord them official recognition by the government to enable them to have more respect among their communities.
While suggesting that the government should make it a law that all government appointees and political office holders must obtain a letter of good conduct from the head of their community before being given any position.
The ward head explained that such action would produce people of proven integrity and leaders of credible backgrounds for the citizens.
