Date:

From David Hassan, Gombe

The Gombe state Police command has warned the interim National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Lai Mohammed for alleging that its members in Gombe have been arrested and harassed by the Gombe state police command.

This was contained in a press release signed and made available to news men in Gombe yesterday through the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Fwaje Atajiri who said that the statement by Lai Mohammed was published to malign the good name of Gombe state police command, noting that the police command remained focused on its professional responsibilities in enforcing law and order in the state.

According to him the command had made frantic efforts to curb the menace of miscreants in the state that served as political thugs who normally attack innocent citizens on the street, and that the command had raided criminals hideout and charged them to court.

He said the state commissioner of police Mr. Kudu Nma Abdullahi had held series of meetings with state party leaders and stakeholders to ensure that peace prevails between the parties and that the representatives of the parties had written undertakings to be good conduct.

He advised APC chieftain to stop accusations against Gombe state police command noting that the command remained non partisan but rather committed to preserve the current peace in the state.
