Concerned over the insecurity in parts of Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas on Wednesday, canvassed more military support to overcome security challenges confronting the area.
A press statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on medical and Digital communications, Mr Emmanuel Bello, said Agbu was at the Defence headquarters in Abuja where he interacted with the chief of Army staff, Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
The statement noted that, the visit was parts of Agbu’s efforts at sustaining peace and security in Taraba State.
Statement read in parts “Taraba State government is prepared to work with the Chief of Army Staff in its effort to secure the state. Referring to Gen Lagbaja as his mentor, Kefas said he represents the military establishment in the state and that he will not let them down.
“He requested that more boots should be deployed to support troops in the state are doing.” He demanded.
Responding, the COAS pledged the military support to the governor’s peace efforts. He said Taraba state would be used as a spring board for operational effectiveness in the North East region. Consequently, he promised that a battalion of combatants would be deployed to Taraba state.
Governor Kefas’s entourage during the visits were members of the National Assembly, Senators Haruna Manu, Shauibu Lau, and David Jimkuta among others.
