Humanitarian Minister pleads with donor agencies to extend services to North-west

Minister of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has pleaded with the donor agencies that render humanitarian services for the betterment of IDPs and vulnerable communities in the North-east part of Nigeria to also consider the North-west states.
The Minister made the plea during handing over ceremony of 40-housing estate constructed for resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Gusau while in Zamfara State last Thursday for sympathy visit over the abduction of female students of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS).
Dr. Edu, explained that, the present administration under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on policies designed to promote and protect the lives and property of the good people of Zamfara State and the nation at large.
“Apart from concluded plans to ensure lives and property are well protected, the federal government has taken it obligatory to rehabilitate the lives of those been devastated by insecurity challenges across the country by making provisions of camps to accommodate the Displaced Persons as well as paying attention to their demands for better living.
“As you can see, we have 40 constructed befitting shelters ready to contain forty households with their feedings and other Immediate demands, the houses have been designed to make their lives comfortable for them to feel at home”, Dr. Edu has added.
Earlier, the Minister has visited Gusau Varsity to symphasize with the management staffers over the abduction of the students, assuring that, the federal government is doing the needful with a view to ensure all the students are rescued health and hearty.
Speaking, Governor Dauda Lawal, said his administration has a great concern on matters surrounding security, saying that he has approved for the immediate recruitment of 300 Civilian JTF being addressed as ‘Community Protection Guards’ (CPG) from each of the 14 local government councils of the state.
“The recruited members of the CPG would be trained by the security agencies on how best they could compliment the conventional operatives in the fights against banditry and other heinous crimes, and the same time on how they would handle intelligence Information gathered from the available sources.
“My administration motto remains ‘Rescue Zamfara State’ from both the hands of merciless criminals and unpatriotic citizens who vowed to see the state is down in all economic aspect which the state government would never allow at all cost”, Governor Lawal has assured.
Taking over the 40-housing estate, Governor Lawal further informed that, the state government has been taking care of the number of Displaced Persons in the state and will keep to such a policy through the state ministry of humanitarian services.
