Off cycle polls: Be wary of selfish politicians —Igala monarch caution youths

Youths in the Country have been cautioned to be wary of selfish politicians who might attempt to use them to cause Violence before, during and after the forthcoming Governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa state.

A traditional ruler, the Onu igala in Orozo of FCT , Chief Amodu Zakaria stated this while interaction with newsmen in Abuja.

He said the youths as the leaders of tommorrow should be in the vanguard for peace, unity and tolerance for the growth and development of Nigeria.

According to Chief Zakaria, it is pertinent for parents to educate their children on the need to shun violence and avoid being used as political thugs, especially as most politicians who might engage them have safely kept their own children in foreign countries to get quality education.

The monarch also draw the attention of security agencies as well as the Independent electoral commission, INEC to ensure the forthcoming Governorship election particularly in Kogi state should be free fair and credible.

He pointed out that traditional, religious leaders as well as and stakeholders have a responsibility to preach the culture of political tolerance, peace-building process that would led to successful poll in Kogi state.

Chief Zakaria further appealed to president Bola Tinubu to ensure level playing ground for all candidates in the next Saturday Governorship election in these three states.
