The Nigerian Press Council, in collaboration with National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commenced plans to review Mass Communication curriculum for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND).
This was disclosed in Kaduna yesterday, by the Ag. Executive Secretary of the council, Mr. Nnamdi Njemanze, during the opening of one week workshop on the proposed curriculum review.
It was gathered that, the curriculum was last reviewed in 1989, with most of the tools used then now obsolete.
In his welcome address, Njemanze said the essence of the review was to have a curriculum for journalism education that will not only impart the requisite professional skills but also produce journalism graduates who can think clearly, write clearly and coherently with full understanding of the socio-political and economic interfaces in a democracy.
