The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has named three new principal officers following the emergency of new Speaker and court orders for rerun of elections in some polling units in two State Constituencies, Keana and Doma South.
Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced this during the House proceedings today in Lafia.
The new principal officers are Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara as Majority Leader, Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala as Deputy Majority Leader and Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Nana as Deputy Chief Whip.
Jatau said that the House cannot operate legally without the Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader and Deputy Chief Whip.
“ If you will recall that on Friday, 1st December, 2023, I was elected as Speaker leaving my former positions, Deputy Majority Leader and Chairman, House Committee on Education vacants.
“ Also, by Appeal Court judgement, the seat of Majority Leader is also not occupied. .
“ I hereby named Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara as the new Majority Leader, Hon Abel Yakubu Bala is the Deputy Majority Leader and Hon Ibrahim Aliyu Nana is the new Deputy Chief Whip.
“ Their positions is with immediate effect,” he said.
The Speaker also announced Hon Abel Yakubu Bala as the Chairman, House Committee on Education.
