Jonathan charges civil servants on core values, efficiency

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday in Sokoto state charged the Nigeria Civil Service to live up to expectation, just as he admonished them to stick to the core values of the service.

Jonathan stated this at the 42nd Annual General Conference of Civil Service of the Federation held in Sokoto on Tuesday, themed ‘Enhancing Civil Service Core Values and Performance for National Development.’

The president who was represented by the Head of Service of the federation, Alhaji Bukar Boni Aji said the resolve for re-orientation towards restoring the lost core values of public and civil service was a commendable effort.

According to him, “The choice of the theme presupposes a total commitment on your part to bring about the revitalisation of our deep-rooted values towards the renaissance of the Nigerians Public Service.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Deaconess Juan Ayo said conference would serve as a platform to brainstorm for better service delivery among civil service personnel.

She further assured that the Nigerian Civil Service will be ICT-compliant as soon as possible.

On his part, the state governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko represented by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Shinkafi said the Civil Service is the engine room for the development of any nation.

He further advised that civil servants should strive to regain its lost glory despite conditions of service is been adjudged as the reason behind some of the challenges the commission facing today.
