Ex -Yuguda’s aide to pay N71.5m for printing books ‘for govt’

Former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Malam Isa Yuguda on Education and Societal Re-orientation, Mallam Abdullahi Adamu Shira, has been ordered to pay N71.5 million to one Adamu Aliyu as cost for the printing of 400,000 copies of books printed allegedly on behalf of the Bauchi state government.

The Bauchi state Sharia court, presided over by Judge Malam Mohammed Nazeef Aliyu, in his judgment yesterday, in Bauchi, said “ since the accused had agree that he ordered the plaintiff to print the books, the court has no option but to order the accused to pay the plaintiff the sum of N65,000,000 fees for the printed books, beginning from the end of June 2014, and that he should be paying N15million every month till he completes the amount, “under Order 8 Rule 10 and order 11 rule 21 of the Sharia court laws Bauchi state 2013”.

The judge also ordered the accused pays N6.5 million, being the amount he spent in his effort to seek for payment of his money.

Earlier, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Abubakar Sadiq Idris, told the court that the accused had ordered for the printing of the books since 2012, and he had collected 200,000 copies of the books and alleged that Bauchi State Government will pay the money and all effort to collect the money from the accused failed.

He said his client is ready to give him the balance of the 200,000 copies of the books he had printed and that all effort to reach out of court settlement failed, because they did not pay the money, and appealed to the court to order him to pay them their money.
