The Returning Officer for Lavun local government area state House of Assembly elections, Professor Emanuel Raymond has declared Ndagi Baba of the APC as the winner of Lavun Constituency in Niger State Re-run.
Professor Raymond announced that the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate has met the requirement of the law with the highest votes, having scored 21,393 votes to defeat the incumbent candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 20,802 votes.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer Professor Emanuel Raymond explained that, there were 121,134 registered voters, while 44,390 were accredited, 846 were rejected and 44,310 actually casted their votes.
It would be recalled that in 2023 general election Alhaji Yusuf Dabban of the People’s Democratic Party PDP won the election with over eighteen thousand votes with the margin of 1,580 votes.
It was gathered that the election had some irregularities that led to the cancellation of the election in thirty two polling units with over eighteen thousand registered voters.
The result indicated that the second runner up Ndagi Babbah scored over seventeen thousand votes but had challenged the victory in court.
