Bizman charged with breach of trust, intimidation

Date:

The Police have arraigned a 54-year old businessman, Kabiru Haruna of Games village, in Abuja, before a Gudu Upper Area court, for alleged criminal breach of trust, cheating and intimidation.

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Mohammed Garba, told the court that one Amina Sadiq of Lokogoma District in Abuja lodged a report at the Garki Police Station on May 20.

“The accused collected two drawers from Sadiq sometimes in November 2013, valued at N150,000, and promised to pay her after two weeks.

“The accused deliberately refused to pay the money and when Sadiq demanded for it, he (Haruna) threatened to deal with her,’’ Garba said.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 398 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, the accused person could spend 12 years in prison or pay a fine.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Malam Umar Kagarko, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.

Kagarko said the surety must be responsible, possess landed property and reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He also said the surety must write an undertaking that the accused would not commit similar offence.

The judge adjourned the case to June 10 for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
