From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
The Kano State Hisbah Board has dismissed reports that its Commander-General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has resigned over the release of Murja Kunya, a popular TikTok skit maker in the state.
Ms Kunya was recently arrested and prosecuted by the Hisbah board, following complaints of immorality lodged by the residents of Tishama, the area where she resides in Kano.
However, before the adjourned date for hearing of bail of the embattled Murja, after she was remanded by court, she was later released.
Her controversial released had sparked outrage by people on social media, whole some calling on Daurawa to step down as the Hisbah boss because according to some, there is political undertone in the matter.
In the wake of the outrage, rumour on Monday started making the round on social media that Daurawa had resigned.
However, in a swift reaction, the Deputy Commander-General, DCG, of the Hisbah, Mujahid Aminundeen, debunks the reports.
In audio clip on Mon Aminundeen, who spoke in Hausa, said, “I want to reiterate to our people that Al-Sheikh, Al-Imam, Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa is still the Commander-General of the Hisbah Board. He has not resigned. He is still in charge. Probably, some elements want to use the rumours to do something cynical.
