Jigawa govt, BAF engages 9,517 women/young farmers on agroecology

The Jigawa Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (JARDA) in collaboration with Baba Azumi Foundation (BAF), and Small-Scale women Farmers Organization (SWOFON), trained 9,517 Small holder women and young farmers, on Agroecology in Jigawa state.
Speaking during the training held at Ahmadu Bello Bello Hall new Secretariat Dutse, the founder of Baba Azumi Foundation Barrister Aisha Jahun said, the program was supported by ActionAid’s SPAC project.
Barrister Jahun explained that, the project aimed at improving food and Nutrition Security and enhance Agroecology skills of 120,000 small holders women Farmers and young people by strengthening capacity and facilitating Access to early maturing seeds, seedlings, livestocks, and poultry farming.
According to her, the participants were selected from nine local government as pioneering stage, adding that the effort will help achieving food and Nutrition Security in the state.
She then, commended Jigawa government for collaboration with them and promised to continue partnership with state better future of the state.
While delivering his speech, the Managing Director JARDA Alhaji Imam Muhammad, said, Jigawa government agreed to partner with BAF and SWOFON to implement Action Aid SPAC project as a step to achieve agricultural development and provisions of jobs to teeming youths.
According to him, the project will reduced use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides and increase incomes and less spending for farmers in their farming activities.
